Abstract:
Forty nine patients with Scheuermann's kyphosis have been treated with the Milwaukee brace, between 1966 and 1973. The plan of patient management is given. 43 patients have been reevaluated, at least 6 months after removal of the brace. An average correction of the kyphotic curvature of 23.6 percent was obtained, with a vertebral wedge correction of 21.6 percent. There was also an improvement in the intervertebral spaces. The results are discussed and compared with similar, rather rare, studies in the literature.
