Abstract:

A study was conducted on the Rubinstein-Duke (RB) model by means of the density matrix renormalization group (DMRG), a technique which was quite successful in recent years. Using the formal similarity between the Master equation for reptation and the Schrodinger equation, MRG also allows to calculate accurately stationary state properties of long reptating chains. This paper gives a full account of details of the calculations and presents a series of new results concerning reptation in the presence of an electric field.
