Abstract:

Between 2008 and 2022, the cardiovascular research landscape has witnessed the emergence of new countries that rival the United States and Europe among the main countries with the greatest scientific production. This poster explores how much the emergence of these new national actors is accompanied by the expansion of different open access publishing models (gold, hybrid, and green) and the impact of these new publishing strategies on the scientific quality. To this end, a scientometric analysis of cardiovascular publications in Web of Science was conducted, using the Norwegian Register for Scientific Journals (NRSJ) for quality assessment. At a global level, a stagnation of the hybrid model and a constant growth of gold and green models can be observed. In general, the countries with the highest production of articles show a significant growth in their percentage of gold and green OA articles, regardless of their status as traditional leaders or emerging actors.
