Abstract:

This dataset supports the publication Vandemaele et al. (2022), investigating the pathophysiological changes in mechanical behavior of human mitral valve leaflets and chords in secondary mitral regurgitation as opposed to healthy control. The dataset contains the experimental data of the planar biaxial and uniaxial mechanical experiments on human mitral valve leaflets and chords, respectively. A distinction was made between six sample categories: anterior leaflet (AL), posterior leaflet (PL), anterior basal (AB) chord, anterior marginal (AM) chord, posterior basal (PB) chord and posterior marginal (PM) chord.
