Abstract:

All of a sudden narrative and illustrative painting became very present in the third decade of the 21th Century, both in the contemporary art world as in art schools. So that is why the painting professors John France and Richard Kenton Webb of the University of West England in Bristol and Patrick Verllaak of LUCA School of Arts decided to organise a symposium around this topic. Moderator dr. Jeroen Laureyns asked Sandra Smith, Jan De Maesschalck, Richard Kenton Webb, Richard Davey and Gerda Dendooven to present three different works (historic, contemporary, your own) to discuss this topic.
