Abstract:

Divided cities. New forms and practices of border(ing)s at the Euro-Mediterranean frontier. From the effects of the Syrian humanitarian crisis, to the forms of conflict “sedimented” on territories, public spaces and local identities, to the protests and resistances to borders through collective political and artistic actions. These are just a few modes and practices of (counter)confinement occurring in “divided cities” in the Euro-Mediterranean area to which this session is devoted.
