Abstract:

The present study identifies protective and risk factors in the well-being of a group of Lima school's teachers and participants of the Diploma in Socio-Emotional Education for Schoolar Wellbeing (2014-2015) that was organized by the Education Ministry and the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. As part of this study, 62 teachers of different schools in Lima Metropolitana participated. The investigation is a qualitative study that explores the life stories of the group of participants by identifying significant experiences that cause impact on their well-being. Therefore, based on a thematic analysis of these stories, this paper describes some protective and risk factors that affect the participants. On the protective factors, we have recognized the support networks, labor motivation, and positive recognition. Meanwhile, the risk factors are severe work conditions, material deficiencies, lost experiences and mourning, and finally, violence history.
