Abstract:

Introduction: Although asymptomatic hyperlactatemia is common in HIV infected patients, lactic acidosis (LA) is rare and severe. The factors triggering the onset of LA are not yet well understood. A case of abrupt-onset and fatal LA coinciding with the start of amphotericin B (amphoB) treatment is reported.
