Evaluation of Translation Assignments

Abstract:

We aimed at demonstrating in which ways an academic department in translation and interpreting has successfully interacted with industry, government and standardization institutes. As a case-study, we focused on the impact [semi-] automated translation quality assurance [TQA] tools have on the evaluation of translation assignments. The results of both a survey and TQA experimental analyses led us to conclude that this interaction initiative has been conducive to exploring, developing and implementing new evaluation methods and tools. TQA could not have reached the current stage without this type of interaction.
