Abstract:

Complex oxides of the composition La1-xSrxCoO3(x = 0, 0.3, and 0.5) and LaSrCoO4with perovskite-like structures obtained cryosynthetically were studied as catalysts of the oxidation of CH3OH at 200°C. The partial oxidation of methanol to formaldehyde was found to follow a step mechanism with the participation of structural oxygen. The complete oxidation of the alcohol to carbon dioxide involved the dissociative adsorption of molecular oxygen. Copyright © 2005 by Pleiades Publishing, Inc.
