Abstract:

A new procedure for solid phase extraction (SPE) followed by high performance liquid chormatography (HPLC) is described for the selective determination of linear alkylbenzene sulfonates in various environmental samples including river water and sediment, raw and treated municipal sewage, aerobic and digested sewage sludge and sludge-amended soil. The recovery of spiked LAS average 94% for aqueous samples and 85% for solid samples. The relative standard deviation in these matrices is 4% and 10% respectively. The method sensitivity is in the range of 10 ppb total LAS for aqueous samples and 100 ppb for solid samples.
