Abstract:

Immediate allergic reactions to ß-lactamantibiotics Ten percent of patients report a history of allergic reactions tot ß-lactamantibiotics, resulting in the frequent use of alternative antibiotics by the physician consulted. However, the majority of these patients have no IgE mediated allergy. This review focuses on epidemiology, physiology and diagnosis of the immediate allergic reactions to ß-lactamantibiotics. The possible strategies for treating bacterial infections in ß-lactam allergic patients are presented.
