Abstract:
The effects of the drinking of hydrochloric acid on the stomach are described in reference to the case histories of two patients. Not infrequently, a fibrosing stenosis of the antrum develops after several weeks and ultimately necessitates surgical treatment. The value of repeated gastroscopy, during the acute stage as well as prior to operation, is emphasized. Recommendations are made with a view to maintenance of a good nutritional status.
