Abstract:

In cooperation with MESware nv1 the authors have developed an adaptive and generic production scheduling system capable of handling complex real world constraints. While scheduling multiple customer orders, the scheduler can handle complex resource and time constraints. Examples include: different types of plant layouts, sequence-dependent setup times, time-lags, working times, resource (un)availabilities, and grouping/splitting multiple orders. The system applies a combination of artificial intelligence and operational research methods to produce good quality solutions in a short amount of time. The capabilities of the scheduling system will be demonstrated using different real world production scheduling cases from the food industry.
