Abstract:

Throughout this bulletin, prepared within the framework of the participatory action research project "Todos y todas por Chaparrí" (Everyone for Chaparrí), we hope that the reader will discover the social, cultural, political, and ecological richness of the Chaparri Nature Reserve territory in Lambayeque, Peru. This bulletin brings together some results of the project, carried out jointly by the universities of Leuven, Hasselt, and Trujillo and sponsored by the Flemish Agency VLIR-UOS of Belgium. Throughout our collaborative work with the actors leading the conservation project in Chaparri, we have realized the need to raise awareness and disseminate information regarding the dilemmas and complex crossroads in which private protected territories and areas like Chaparrí find themselves today. This bulletin was printed in Lima, and several copies were delivered to the community of Chaparrí, including their board of directors, as well as participants and co-researchers of the project.
