Abstract:

A lot of OKAN- and ex-OKAN-teachers find it difficult to get started with literature in the classroom. Overhaald (Lannoo, 2021) was created to convince both students and teachers to read and to enjoy it. Overhaald is a literature manual with fourteen short stories by Herman Brusselmans, Lize Spit and Fikry El Azouzi, among others. Marlies Algoet and Jona Hebbrecht, affiliated with the teacher training program at Odisee University of Applied Sciences, took the lead in developing an inspiring manual for teachers. It consists of a general introduction followed by extensive lesson series for each story.
