Abstract: The ambiguity of slip system selection inside each grain plaguing the Taylor solution to polycrystal plasticity is caused by neglecting substructural anisotropy, as the critical resolved shear stresses on all slip systems are assumed to be equal. Simulating accurately the dislocation patterns at the grain-scale level, as done in [Acta Mater 49(2001)1607], solves this Taylor ambiguity. (C) 2001 Acta Materialia Inc.
