Increasing product quality requirements demand the further development of production processes. Therefore, mixing processes in different extruders are evaluated for the continuous incorporation of liquids in compounds. Using less energy and generating less heat build-up in the mix to obtain a homogeneous compound, up to 8 weight% of liquid can be incorporated. Correlations are found between the pressure in the barrel, the amount of liquid additives, and the homogeneity of the compound.
