Abstract: This paper focuses on the particular aspect of image sensor data transmission under low power and small size conditions. The application is in wireless capsule endoscopy. Traditional image compression techniques are out of reach and a dedicated hard wired technique is developed. By taking advantage of the typical endoscopy images characteristics, it proposes a simple way to limit the bandwidth needed to transmit the video movie, and therefore, enhance data transmission. The principle of the compression is based on prediction. A full system configuration is elaborated and a dedicated chip has been designed.
