Abstract: Today, Digital Signal Processing (DSP) is a growing discipline, as Very Large Scale Intergration (VLSI) technology makes it feasible to realise real-time digital algorithms for speech processing, audio, video and telecommunications on chip. Key issues for successfully integrating such complex algorithms into an Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC), are the reduction of both design time and the risk of redesigns. Silicon compliation offers a way to cope with these issues.
