Title: Electronic thermal-conductivity of high critical-temperature superconductors

Abstract: The electronic component of the thermal conductivity kappa(e) of high-T-c superconductors below the critical temperature is derived by use of Ziman variational approach. We take into account the temperature dependence of the chemical potential as well as inelastic electron-phonon and elastic electron-impurity scattering along a two fluid model. For realistic values of the electron-phonon coupling constant, we find that kappa(e) increases below T-c and exhibits a peak below T-c/2, peak of which position and height are shifted toward upper temperature as the impurity fraction in the system is increased. These results suggest that the rapid increase of the thermal conductivity observed in high-T-c superconductors may be mainly due to the electronic contribution.
