Abstract: A limiting amplifier, implemented in a standard 0.18 mu m CMOS technology, is presented. At 6 Gbit/s a BER of 10(-12) is achieved for an input voltage of 8 mV(pp). Large signals with an input amplitude of 600 mVpp can be detected error-free, resulting in a dynamic range of 37.5 dB at 6 Gbit/s. Current consumption is 40 mA from a 1.8 V power supply.
