Abstract: An essential part of all problems relating to the environment is the understanding of how living organisms respond dynamically to their physical microenvironment or microclimate. For plants, different modelling techniques are available: physical mechanistic modelling, but also mathematical black box modelling can be used. In this paper, these different techniques are presented, with special attention to their accuracy and validation.
