Abstract: With an increased consumption of poultry meat the sale of carcass parts compared to whole carcasses is also increasing. With respect to this, heavier broilers are needed in order to improve the profitability of cutting up carcasses. However, raising broilers up to a higher body weight at slaughter increases the production cost pro kg and this in a proportionally increased way for females compared to males.
