Collections of fossil molluscs and vertebrates made with controlled geological contexts permit refinement of the Neogene and Quaternary biostratigraphy of the Nkondo area, Lake Albert, Uganda. Two Pliocene levels and a Quaternary horizon have yielded important floral and faunal associations. During the Pliocene, the area was tropical and humid, whereas by the Pleistocene it had changed and had become a wooded savannah.
