Abstract:

This article describes the role of Mgr. Heuschen, auxiliary bishop of Liège at the time of the Council. On the basis of material, recently discovered (letters; archival material), this article describes in a detailed way the important role Heuschen played in the drafting of Lumen Gentium, Dei Verbum and Gaudium et Spes. Furthermore, the article pays ample attention to the role of Heuschen in the creation of the diocese of Hasselt, founded in 1967.
