Abstract:
Liposarcoma, a fortuitous finding in a patient with a bowel obstruction A 77-year-old patient was admitted to the emergency department with symptoms compatible with a bowel obstruction. Imaging visualized a voluminous, fat-containing mass in the retroperitoneum. The entire right hemiabdomen was taken by the tumor and had a pronounced mass effect on the intra-abdominal organs. Diagnostic exploration revealed that the bowel obstruction was caused by a terminal ileitis/caecitis with a covered perforation. A treatment with antibiotics was followed by extensive debulking of the tumoral process. Anatomopathological and cytogenetic examination revealed a well-differentiated liposarcoma
