Interaction of He-8 nuclei with alpha particles and protons at a beam energy of 26 MeV/n

Angular distributions of elastically scattered He-8 ions on He-4 and on protons at the beam energy of 26 MeV/n are presented. An attempt to observe a backward-angle rise of the He-8 + He-4 cross-section is reported. The forward-angle 4He data are analyzed with a double folding, density dependent model. Finite range DWBA was applied in order to estimate the contributions from the transfer reactions. It was found that the 2-step process is more important than the I-step transfer. It seems that eikonal approximation is applicable for the description of elastic scattering He-8+p at this energy. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
