Abstract: Research in Action has the main goal to broaden and enrich the current pedagogy of research in school education by giving pupils the possibility to explore the practice of research as it exists in the 'outside world' and to become interested in it. The project also aims at educating future teachers to open the world of research practice for their pupils. To achieve these goals, the project has developed, by design-based research, a digital learning environment based on authentic learning materials where pupils can explore the many dimensions of the research practice. The project concept is general and can be applied to all school subjects. Didactic scenarios have been developed for primary and secondary school science, and for behavioural sciences in secondary school. Trajectories for teacher education have been coupled to these scenarios allowing students first of all to discover the research practice, and then to make this discovery possible for their pupils, not only by using the already developed learning materials but also by developing their own.
