Abstract: We show that the presence of destructive interference due to quantum coherence at nuclear Zeeman level crossings can totally preclude gamma-resonant absorption under appropriate conditions leaving resonant emission intact. The underlying principle can be demonstrated in a Mossbauer effect experiment and has broad consequences in the domain of gamma optics.
