Abstract: Thin zeolite films have been grown on a pyroelectric support. For silicalite-1 the thermally induced electrical potential provokes a unique crystallization on the positive side of the support, whereas other zeolites, like zeolite A, crystallize on both sides. This is explained by a model which describes the specific growth mechanism of silicalite-1 films. The pyroelectric support has further been exploited for measuring thermal effects in zeolite layers, primarily heat capacities and thermal conductivities.
