Abstract: Photothermally modulated ferromagnetic resonance is applied to investigate the spatial variation of collective excitations near a phase transition point. In yttrium iron garnet films the spatial behaviors of surface and volume magnetostatic modes are measured by approaching the ferrimagnetic transition from low temperatures. In FeNi invar films the spatial evolution of the martensitic transformation is imaged by monitoring the resonance field position that is different in the martensite and austenite phase.
