Abstract:
This paper discusses the comparison between measurements and simulations of joined panels with different joining techniques: adhesive bonding, MIG welding, resistance spot welding (RSW) and flow drill screwing (FDS). Experimental modal analysis is performed and the Power Injection Method (PIM) is applied to determine loss factors. The joined panels are modeled in a holistic simulation environment with particular focus on the joining region and including the extracted loss factors. A very good agreement is obtained between the simulated dynamic behavior and the experimental results.
