Abstract: This contribution points at the importance of studying translation and transfer practices in the media, in particular in multilingual media landscapes in Europe. It explains the complexity of such transfers and the extended views on the concept of translation needed for studying it. As language transfers in newsrooms are a combination of writing, translating, rewriting and recontextualizing, it is challenging for translation studies to reconstruct such transfer practices. Recent investigation has shown us a lot about the circumstances, but more case studies on very concrete practices would be needed for supporting and developing this line of research.
