Abstract:

The differential microwave absorption method of shortened waveguide and the differential and direct d.c. measurements were applied to the study of the field dependence of electric resistivity of Fe/Cr epitaxially grown multilayers, exhibiting antiferromagnetic coupling between the adjacent Fe layers. The experimental results of all methods obtained at static magnetic field intensities up to 30 kG and at frequencies up to 70 GHz are in a good mutual agreement, the advantages and drawbacks of the individual methods are discussed. The results confirm well the applicability of microwave methods for contactless studies of the GMR effect. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
