Abstract: We studied the flux line confinement by a square, triangular and rectangular array of microholes (antidots) in superconducting Pb/Ge multilayers and WGe films The critical current density j(c) is strongly enhanced due to pinning of single- or multiple-quanta vortices by the antidots. Measurements of j(c) for several antidot radii have been performed. For large enough antidots, a crossover to a wire network regime is observed (C) 1997 Acta Metallurgica Inc.
