Abstract: We perform the quantization of the complex linear superfield viewed as the field strength of an unconstrained gauge superfield. The gauge-fixing procedure leads to an infinite tower of ghosts which can be handled using the Batalin-Vilkovisky method. The application of the BV formalism to superspace quantization has novel features not encountered in ordinary space-time quantization. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
