Abstract:

Unperturbed and perturbed angular correlation and conversion electron measurements have been performed to obtain spectroscopic information on the low-lying levels of Xe129 fed by the decay of Cs129. We established Iπ(318 keV)=32+, Iπ(411 keV)=12+, Iπ(589 keV)=32+, δ(39.6 keV)=-(2.6±0.5)×10-2, δ(177 keV)=0.44±013, δ(372 keV)=+0.97±0.09, μ(39.6 keV)=+(0.88±0.26)μN. B(M1) and B(E2) values are derived from above data and earlier lifetime determinations. A weak-coupling calculation is presented to explain experimental data. RADIOACTIVITY Cs129 [from I(α, 2n)]; measured ce KL, γγ(θ), deduced I, δ, B(E2), B(M1). Measured γγ(θ,H), Xe129 level deduced g. Ge(Li), Si(Li) detectors.
