The purpose of this research is to obtain an insight into the implementation process of "The Healthy School Project", that was attended to by the Proges-Association under the supervision of the "Steering Committee for Health Information and Education (H.I.E.) in Educational Establishments" , and that was organised in twelve pilot schools - six primary and six secundary schools - in the Flemish region of Belgium. The various actors who were involved in the project within the pilot schools were interviewed: headmas-ters, teachers, project co-ordinators, parents and officers of the schoolcenters for medical and psychological assistance. The resulting stories were subjected to a qualitative analysis aiming at exposing the organisational context of the process (e.g. de decision making processes), its development (e.g. the attendance), its results and how it was experienced by the various actors. The analysis is to reveal the factors and the operational conditions which hindered or, on the contrary, stimulated the implementation process. This is important in view of the general strategy that is to be set up for the overall introduction of H.I.E. into the educational establish¬ments. The guidelines for that strategy are to result into a scenario that should permit schools to evaluate themselves as "Healthy Schools".
