Abstract: In recent times, there has been heated debate regarding the future of development theory and indeed its praxis. The authors presented here show, through various len- ses, pertinent concerns regarding development and cooperation leading however, to more questions than answers; I therefore construct this epilogue in a similar fashion. There is no doubt that we live in ‘interesting times’ as the proverb goes, therefore, it is critical to consider how economic, social and political changes in the coming few years will intersect with; and reorganize the concerns and thoughts featured here. I will briefly highlight three factors: first, the development impasse under neoliberal globalisation; second, the significance of the 2008 economic crisis and third, the influence of a rising China on development practice.
