Abstract: This chapter describes aspects of the supervision of music therapists from a
number of perspectives, including specifically the musical aspects of the
work outside the clinic room (i.e. in supervision). The chapter has evolved in
a particular way, via an ongoing collaborative process with a number of
experienced music therapist supervisors in the UK and Belgium. The
responses of these colleagues are throughout the chapter. Other colleagues
have also read the text and offered further insight into the topic. Warm
acknowledgement for their contribution to the content and shape of this
chapter is given particularly to Donald Wetherick, Tessa Watson, and Katrien
