Abstract: In this contribution I analyse the main EU law aspects relating to both respecting and promoting human rights in EU missions. I will do so at a fairly general level so as not to create too much overlap with the other contributions
which look at both these dimensions in greater detail. In the first part, I will briefly analyse the main relevant provisions of the Treaty on European Union (TEU). In the second part, I will outline a number of aspects relating to the implementation of respecting and promoting human
rights in EU CSDP missions.
