Abstract:

In this text (a very first draft) I try to think how the commons in spatial terms is a forgotten and abolished category (any place is either private or public). Modernity opened up with the enclosure of the spatial commons. But most of all these notes try to see the common as fragile, given the ungoing appropriation and privatisation of the commons, of both the natural commons (exploitation of the North Pole, the privatisation of seeds) and the artificial commons (knowledge). The question is how to reactivate the commons in spatial and urban terms.
