A reaction of 3,3’,4,4’-tetrakis(methoxycarbonyl)benzophenone tosylhydrazone with fullerene C60 was used to obtain a novel methano-fullerene derivative bearing four carboxylic groups, whose sodium and potassium salts are water-soluble. The compound possesses antiviral and anticancer activity as well as pronounced antioxidant properties in combination with a low toxicity.
