Abstract: This paper presents some selected examples that illustrate the diversity of soilborne plant diseases, which can be suppressed by a wide number of compost types. Factors in disease suppression are given: chemical and physical as well as biological factors. Some biological control agents and compost maturity are described, and controlled fortification is discussed. The restrictions and prediction of plant disease suppression are also presented.
