Abstract: This paper presents a simulation approach for the evaluation of personnel schedules when uncertainty in timing of the workloads exists. A simulation model is constructed, and a case study application of the proposed approach is described. Results show that the existing schedules perform quite well with more than 90% of the flights maintained during the scheduled time window. When we look at the maintenance jobs that could not be finished before the end of their time windows, we learn that peaks exist on particular days or parts of days. This leads to the conclusion that the schedules could be further optimized.
