Abstract: The androgen receptor (AR) is essential for the development and maintenance of the male phenotype, and for spermatogenesis. Mutations in the AR gene cause a wide variety of androgen insensitivity syndromes (AIS), ranging from complete feminization to phenotypic males with infertility.
