Abstract:

This paper presents an overview of the work done in the framework of "Green Inhibitors" Project - a bilateral cooperation program between Belgium and Vietnam to discover new environmentally-friendly corrosion inhibitors or 'harmless corrosion inhibitors to nature" i.e. materials protection compounds based on components from naturally-occurring tropical plants or other organic sources. A number of tests/experiments of different tropical plants extracts such as Camellia Sinensis, Nicotiana spp., Glycine max, Rhizophora, Anacardium occidentale... as corrosion inhibitors have been performed. The authors present their results, also evaluations of the impact of these 10 tropical extracts as corrosion inhibitors for metals in different environments with different concentrations. © 2009 by NACE International.
