Abstract: Hyperphalangism or, because the finger is also short, brachy hyperphalangism, is characterized by an extra phalanx in a finger. It should not be confused with polyphalangism deformity in which one hand has an extra finger. The deformity has some typical characteristics and additional deformities which we describe.
