Abstract: Flemish nationalism is back on the scene. The Nieuw-Vlaamse Alliantie (N-VA), the political voice of the democratic Flemish nationalism, appeared to be the big winner of the elections of 13 June 2010 in Belgium. The N-VA owes a big deal of its success to the charismatic leadership of its chairman, Bart De Wever. Does the charismatic authority of Bart De Wever answer to what is defined as 'power legitimized on the basis of a leader's exceptional personal qualities or the demonstration of extraordinary insight and accomplishment, which inspire loyalty and obedience from followers ‘? Questions that now will arise, apply to the tenability of his charisma: 1. Will it not suffer under the participation of the N-VA in the Flemish government ? 2. If the success of the N-VA would only but tied to the charisma of its chairman, will the party than one day not shrink again?
